Pre-hospital trauma care

Stop the bleed the gauze can't.

Versil is developing an injectable, self-expanding foam that seals life-threatening wounds and stops bleeding in under 30 seconds — one-handed, in any conditions.

The problem

When bleeding can't be pressed, today's tools fall short.

Uncontrolled hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable death after injury. For deep, noncompressible wounds — torso, groin, neck — gauze has to be packed by hand, washes out when wet, and depends on the patient still being able to clot. First responders need something faster, simpler, and more reliable.

The technology

One material that travels like a liquid and holds like a solid.

Dispensed straight into the wound, Versil's foam expands into a sponge that fills the cavity, applies outward pressure, and actively drives clotting — all at once.

Seals & clots at once

Applies pressure and triggers clotting together — working even when the patient's own blood can't clot.

One-handed, no training

No packing, no technique to learn. Reaches deep wounds that can't be packed and sets in under 30 seconds.

Works in the field

Waterproof and field-stable where gauze fails — rain, snow, or wet wounds — and removes cleanly in one piece.

The team

Built by the people who invented it.

Versil is a University of Central Florida spinout, grounded in peer-reviewed materials research and shaped by direct work with the medics and responders who'll use it.
